In north of Senegal, Fouta Toro is rarely visited. After Thies and Saint-Louis we'll take you to Djoudj bird sanctuary.
- Djoudj bird sanctuary is the third most important one in the world, being the northern limit for birds coming up from the south and the southern limit for those going down from the north. About 300 species of birds can be observed there.
- PODOR is an ancient trading post which, due to its economic and strategic importance made the colonial authorities transfer 1500 men there to build a fort to protect their trade
- The peaceful and old village of Ngawlé where curiously women build houses.

City tour of Thies, art manufacture gallery, craft village, typical market...

Departure for Saint-Louis : discover Lam-Lam baobab forest, and stop at certain interesting villages.

Wake up and breakfast.
Saint-Louis carriage tour.
Lunch down town.
Back to hotel, afternoon at leisure.

Wake up and breakfast.
Leave Saint-Louis for Djoudj bird sanctuary.
Boat ride to the rockery.
Lunch at hostellery of Djoudj.
Tour around the park.

Departure for North region : Fouta.
Lunch at "Gîte d'étape" in Richard Toll.
Tour to Baron Roger Castle.
Drive on to Podor.
Check in "Guillaume Foy" hotel.

DAY VI
Wake up and breakfast.
Visit Podor fortress.
Board on pirogue to visit Mauritanian village of Dabay.
After the village we sail on to Ngawlé village.
Settle on the riverside for a picnic lunch under the mango-trees.
Visit of Ngawlé's notables : the grand-son of the founder, the chief of village...
Leave Ngawlé on carriage to Podor.
Dinner and overnight.
DAY VII
Wake up and breakfast.
Leave Podor for Pink Lake, with a lunch stop in Louga, home-city of former President Diouf.
Way on to Pink Lake.
Arrival and check in Salim's or similar.
Dinner and overnight.
DAY VIII
Wake up and breakfast.
Short tour around the lake and drive on to Dakar.
Board on the boat to Gorée island.
Check in "chez Clarys'" or similar.
Lunch
Tour of the island : Slave Dungeon and museums.
Dinner and overnight.
DAY IX
Wake up and breakfast.
Leave the island for a city tour of Dakar : Independence Drive, President's Palace, Soweto Square, the Corniches, and the Light House.
Lunch in Almadies by the airport.
Afternoon at leisure.
Departure transfer.
